Head of Product Engineering

Job Purpose:

• To own the electrical, electronic and regulatory scope for all hardware projects.
• To support the RI portfolio of products in- field and products under development as part of the NPD team. 
• To work with suppliers to ensure that electrical, electronic and regulatory aspects of projects are executed correctly, providing a solid foundation for on-going product production.
• To lead the Product Validation team to ensure capabilities and resources exist to support the business.
• To lead the Regulatory team to ensure expertise and support are available to provide confidence that RI Products are safe and legally compliant.
• To lead the In Life Product Engineering Solutions team to ensure support, expert knowledge and resources exist to enable products to be supported throughout their life span from cradle to grave.
• Responsible for managing product development projects to completion, through close collaboration with multiple functions across the global Hygiene & Pest Control businesses.
• Manage Team of 17 technical and managerial colleagues.

Requirements:

• Expertise in electronics manufacturing and product design
• Previous relevant experience within a mechanical/electrical/electronics and/or regulatory environment
• A minimum of a good honours degree in an electrical or electronic engineering or similar discipline 
• Experience in bringing electronic products to production with high quality expectations.
• Knowledge of RF devices and protocols.
• Knowledge of regulatory affairs at a regional or international level
• Knowledge of Household Equipment regulatory approval requirements for Global Markets essential.  
• Knowledge of CB/CE/cULus, FCC, RCM, UKAS, KCC, NOM, INMetro, BSMI, HACCP.
• Experience of working with or within a Validation and Test environment and able to apply and recommend test strategies to ensure an understanding of a products expected lifetime within the field is understood prior to product release.
• Previous experience supporting launched products and managing product improvements, cost down initiatives and product maintenance.
• Strong leadership skills. Able to lead a technical project team. 
• Able to manage and deliver a complex project portfolio whilst also identifying opportunities for further simplification, standardisation and cost optimization.
• Good analytical problem solving skills with ability to generate and interpret technical data, provide conclusions and recommendations for follow up action accordingly.
• Working knowledge of Schematic capture, layout and gerber editing software an advantage.
