A Day in the Life of a Rentokil Pest Control Technician
Life of a Rentokil Pest Control Technician
In today's world, the role of a Pest Control Technician is more critical than ever. At Rentokil Initial, we pride ourselves on offering top-notch pest control services to both commercial and domestic customers. But what does a Pest Control Technician do? How can you become a part of this vital industry? Here we will explore the ins and outs of a Pest Control Technician's day, what the job entails, and the steps you can take to join our team.
What is a Pest Control Technician?
A Pest Control Technician is a professional who is trained to manage and eliminate pest infestations. This includes dealing with a variety of pests such as bed bugs, birds, bees, wasps, cockroaches, rats, and mice. Technicians play a crucial role in ensuring environments are safe, clean, and pest-free for both commercial and residential customers.
What Does a Rentokil Pest Control Technician Do?
The role is dynamic and fast-paced, requiring our technicians to visit several customers daily. A typical day involves around six clients, but this can vary based on the area they cover. Much of the work involves being out in the field, often working alone, which necessitates strong decision-making skills and self-reliance.
Every day brings new challenges and tasks for a Rentokil Pest Control Technician, where no two days are the same. Our very own Susan from the recruitment team recently spent half a day with one of our pest technicians, Scott, to see the job in action. She found that the day was full of variety and unexpected moments.
Daily Responsibilities
On that particular day, Scott’s first stop was a local supermarket. He was well-known by the staff there, and it was clear he'd already done a great job dealing with a rat issue. As Susan learnt, these animals are very good climbers, and they'd been managing to cause chaos by targeting bread from the top shelves. Scott’s next steps involved getting up close and personal with the problem, looking for the entry source.
Customer Service Excellence
A key part of the job is customer service. Scott’s rapport with the managers at the supermarket and his other customers, showed how important it is to build trusting relationships with our clients. They aren't just a number; our technicians are there to solve problems and offer peace of mind.
Physical Demands
The job can be physically demanding, requiring work at heights and in confined spaces. As Susan found, a certain level of physical fitness and stamina is essential to perform the role effectively. The experience of crawling on the floor and watching Scott climb ladders gave her a whole new appreciation for the physical side of the job.
